Avalanche advisory issued for Front Range

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center has issued a special avalanche advisory for the Front Range including Berthoud Pass and the mountains surrounding Grand County until Wednesday, Dec. 23 at noon.

CAIC has rated the avalanche risk as considerable above, near and below treeline.

Large persistent and wind slab avalanches are likey, according to CAIC, and avalanche terrain should be avoided.

Avalanches are more likely on north, northeast, east, southeast and south-facing aspects.
