In early May 450 horses started their long journey back to Grand County. These horses carry summer visitors along our various trails around Grand Lake and Snow Mountain Ranch. Sombrero Ranch wranglers rounded up the horses on their winter range near Browns Park in Moffat County and drove them 63 miles over two days. They pass through the town of Maybell and continue along U.S. Highway 40 to the main Sombrero Ranch near Craig, Colorado. From the Craig Ranch, the horses are trailered to the various stables for their summer jobs.
