Battle of the Bands moves to Granby’s Oktoberfest celebration

GRANBY – Young musicians from across the region are still being hailed to take the stage in Granby, but instead of doing it on Friday, Sept. 10, the date has been changed to Saturday, Sept. 25, starting at 10 a.m. during Granby’s Oktoberfest.

The Battle of the Bands, which has been held in Winter Park the last two years, will change venues this year due to skatepark construction at Hideaway Park.

“I’m excited to have another family-oriented event in Granby,” said Granby Chamber of Commerce Director Sharon Brenner.

To enter, all band members must be 18 or younger. Each band will play a set, the length of which will depend on how many bands participate, and a group of community judges will pick the winners.

“The Battle of the Bands is not so much a competition as it is a showcase of young local talent,” said Drew Munro, editor of the Sky-Hi News, which has sponsored the event since its inception.

The stage will include a drumset and sound. Musicians will provide their own instruments.

Entry into the competition is free and prizes will be awarded. Registration forms can be picked up at the Granby Chamber of Commerce, 365 East Agate Ave., at the Sky-Hi News office, 424 East Agate Ave., or by emailing
