Benson: Buy the property you don’t want developed

To the Editor:

I have to take exception to Andy Miller’s view of the Byers Peak annexation.

Byers Peak will be developed whether or not it annexes to either Fraser or Winter Park. If Fraser wishes to have any real input as to how it develops, Fraser needs to annex the Byers Peak development.

The company that owns Byers Peak appears to be able to sit on it for now, but this will not last forever. Sooner or later they have to do something with it, and they will.

My only advice to the folks that wish to stop development is: Find the money, buy the property, keep up the taxes, then you can do what you want.

On a different note, but also connected: A stop light needs to be installed at the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 and Eisenhower in beautiful downtown Fraser. It is only a matter of time until this intersection kills someone. Not IF, just WHEN, and WHO!
