Berthoud Pass closed for avalanche work

Sky-Hi News staff report
Grand County, CO Colorado

1WINTER PARK- Berthoud Pass remains closed as CDOT workers wait to control an avalanche at the Stanley slide on the eastern side.

“They shot one avalanche and they’ve got one more to do,” said Bob Wilson, spokesperson for CDOT. “But they couldn’t even see it because of the wind and the snow.”

Berthoud Pass closed around 1 a.m. Thursday morning.

Interstate 70 is closed Thursday morning as well, westbound from C-470 to Vail and eastbound from Silverthorne to Idaho Springs, according to the CDOT website.

It’s expected I-70 will open within the next couple of hours, according to Wilson. Berthoud is expected to open sometime after I-70 re-opens.
