Berthoud Pass snow slide, vehicles stranded, pass is closed

Sky-Hi News Staff Report

Grand County Sheriff’s office is reporting snow slides blocking US Highway 40 on Berthoud Pass.

“Following the original slide at milepost 238, one lane of traffic was able to get past the slide. A second slide of approximately ¼ mile long has now blocked the highway and created an unstable area closed to traffic,” according to the press release.

There are no known injuries or burials. Some vehicles are stranded in the slide and are being evacuated for safety concerns.

Portions of the highway should re-open, soon, CDOT said.

We will update the story throughout the day.
