Bike Granby Ranch Opens May 25

GRANBY – This summer brings the return of mountain biking at Colorado’s Granby Ranch. Bike Granby Ranch (formerly SolVista Basin) kicks off summer with a new name, enhanced cross country trail network, and the addition of family-friendly lift-served trails. The park will open May 25, reviving old favorites with more features for advanced riders and adding cross-country trail signage to aid navigation through the extensive trail network. The park also will add new family-friendly trails for beginners.

Spearheading the design, expansion, and operations of Bike Granby Ranch’s trail network is Bike Park Director Dan O’Connell, a 20-year veteran of ski- and bike- trail planning and creation. Singletrack Trails of Fraser, has been contracted to build and maintain the park’s trails. The company is known as a leader in the Rocky Mountain region for shared-use trail planning, design and construction, as well as the development of bicycle skills training parks.

New family-friendly mountain biking trails

The most “impactful enhancements” to Bike Granby Ranch’s trail network include the addition of lift-served family-friendly terrain, suitable for all levels of rider, according to Lisa Craig, spokesperson for Granby Ranch. The first of the newly constructed green-level trails will meander from Vista Ridge through Granby Ranch’s Trailside neighborhood before returning to the base area. Additional beginner trail enhancements are planned to the south of Nature’s Way.

Features for Advanced Riders

“Fans of the park’s popular advanced trails will not be disappointed in 2012,” Craig said. New features will be added to favorite downhill trails, and these will be networked to deliver progressive challenge levels to thrill the most experienced adrenaline junkie while inviting less experienced riders to test their ability.
