Bill J. McCook

Bill J. McCook, 71, of Grand Lake, died on Sept. 4, 2011, in Grand Lake.

He was born on May 3, 1940, in Arkansas. He married the love of his life Barbara Jean Betz on January 1, 1965, in Sterling, Colo. McCook was a CFO for Denver Catholic Archdiocese, a builder, a developer, a visionary, a husband, a father and friend.

He and Barbara built their dream home in Grand Lake, and from 1989, they lived and loved there.

Bill is survived by his daughter Mindy and her husband Troy; grandchildren, Ruthie, Molly, Caleb, Cody, and Caiden; and many close friends.

Bill’s strength and love for life was expressed even while battling illness for more than three years in hospice care. Each day was a bonus. He is remembered for his gift of friendship and the gift of family. His crazy sense of humor will be dearly missed by all.

“You will be dearly missed my friend, may the wind be always at your back and you find rest at last.”

The family thanks all of Bill’s caregivers as well as the many self-sacrificing hours given by Heart of the Mountain Hospice. The family also thanks his true friend and doctor, his buddy who came and had coffee every morning. They truly are amazing people.

Funeral Services were held at the McCook home on Sept. 10, 2011.
