Bird sparks small wildfire in Granby

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, a bird struck a transformer and ignited a small section of grass in Granby near the intersection of U.S Highway 40 and 34, according to Grand Fire Protection District Fire Chief Brad White.

According to White, the small fire was approximately 10-by-10-feet and was extinguished quickly. The fire was called in at around 11 a.m. and an off-duty volunteer firefighter responded to the scene first, following by two fire engines shortly after.

Grand County is currently under Stage 1 fire restrictions amid dry weather conditions.
