Boulder candidate runs for U.S. House seat
January 7, 2014
BOULDER — Boulder County Republicans Chairman George Leing has announced he is launching his campaign for Colorado's 2nd Congressional District, which includes Grand County.
Leing has 30 years of experience as a lawyer in the finance and energy fields and is currently in private practice.
"I have seen firsthand how increased regulations and more taxation harms business and adversely impacts working Colorado families," said Leing in statements.
In addition to serving as the Boulder County Republican chairman, Leing is a member of the Colorado Republican Party Executive Committee and was appointed by Secretary of State Scott Gessler to serve as a member of the Uniform Voting System Advisory Committee.
On his reasoning for running in 2014, Leing pointed to Obamacare, saying U.S. Congressman Polis of the 2nd Congressional District is "out of touch with his constituents, and that there is an urgent need for new leaders and better thinking in Washington."
The son of Chinese immigrants, Leing is a graduate of New York University. He holds a law degree from Georgetown University and a master's degree in religion from Yale University. To find out more about Leing for Congress visit http://www.georgeleing.com
