Broncos’ mascot to join Winter Park Resort opening day Wednesday

Denver Bronco's mascot Miles will help ring in the ski season at Winter Park Resort's opening day, Nov. 14.

Thanks to cooperative weather and intensive summer construction, Winter Park Resort’s opening day is shaping up to be a historic one and to help celebrate, Denver Bronco’s mascot Miles will be making an appearance Wednesday morning.

The ceremonial first chair will take off at 9 a.m. Nov. 14 at the Arrow lift featuring Miles, who will also canvass the mountain to take photos with guests throughout the morning.

Within the last two weeks, the resort has received 42.5 inches of snow and will be able to open 55 acres of terrain, which is double the amount the resort has been able to open a season with for the past three years.

Five lifts, including the Arrow, Gemini, Endeavor and Discovery, will serve eight trails and one terrain park, including Larry Sale, Village Way and Discovery Park. The Gondola will not yet be open, but is scheduled to open in mid-December.

The resort will also be debuting a new plaza area after doing almost $2 million in improvements, as well as the new $4 million snowmaking system.
