It is time once again for one of Grand Lake’s signature summer events as the picturesque mountain community gears up for the 72nd annual Buffalo Days.

This year’s schedule will be slightly different than past years and does not include the popular 5K Buffalo Stampede. Officials from the Grand Lake Chamber confirmed Thursday that the 5K Buffalo Stampede would not be held this year due to scheduling issues.

Buffalo Days activities kick off Friday night at 7:30 p.m. with bingo in the Heckert Pavilion.

Friday night will also feature a live music performance by Hayden & Friends beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Pancho & Lefty’s.

Saturday’s festivities will get underway with a pancake breakfast at the Heckert Pavillion starting at 7 a.m. and continuing until 11 a.m.

Buffalo Day’s action will continue Saturday afternoon with the Grand Lake Art Walk beginning at 4 p.m. Art Walk attendees will peruse four different galleries in Grand Lake: John F. Williams Photography Studio & Gallery, Pitkin Gallery, Where Art Thou and Studio 8369. Art Walk attendees will be able to obtain a stamp from each gallery they visit and will have a chance to win a piece from one of the galleries.

Saturday will also feature a live music performance by Tight Like That beginning at 6 p.m. at the Wild Bear Tavern at the Gateway Inn.

Saturday night will also feature another bingo event at Heckert Pavilion, once again at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday morning will begin on a more solemn note with Cowboy Church, hosted in the Grand Lake town Park at 10 a.m.

At 1 p.m. the centerpiece of Buffalo Days, the Buffalo Days Parade, will get underway as a long line of parade floats moves east down Grand Avenue.

The parade will immediately be followed by activities in the Grand Lake Water Zone, located in Lakefront Park. The Grand Lake Water Zone at Lakefront Park is being offered as an alternative to the traditional water zone that was featured as part of the Buffalo Days Parade in previous years.

Buffalo Days festivities will wind down on Sunday afternoon with a final live music performance by Hayden & Friends at 2 p.m. at Pancho & Lefty’s.
