The Fraser Planning Commission has approved a development permit for renovations on the former ALCO space to prepare for its future tenant, Murdoch’s Ranch and Home Supply.

The commission reviewed the permit application at its Wednesday, June 10 meeting.

DTJ Design Inc. plans to redo the building’s existing façade to make a new entryway, add an enclosed outdoor sales area and restripe the Fraser Valley Center’s parking lot.

Lee Payne with DTJ Design Inc. said he planned to have construction documents finalized by the end of this month, with renovations being completed in about four months.

The outdoor sales area will be an approximately 19,500 square foot, fence-enclosed space adjacent to U.S. Highway 40.

DTJ Design Inc. plans to restripe the parking lot to add 90-degree parking spaces, replacing the current diagonal spaces, Payne said.

Craig Clark, who has the Fraser Valley Center under contract from its current owner, Winter Boat LLC, said the approval was the final hurdle in the process to bring Murdoch’s to Fraser.

“I look forward to the long term relationship with the town on many fronts, and I’m excited to see what the future holds, Clark said.
