The workshop is tailored to the needs of the community. Ranches and farms are encouraged to participate in this program if you are interested in additional income for your business. The State of Colorado has decided to promote agritourism for rural economic development.

“Agritourism” is defined as the practice of engaging in activities, events and services that have been provided to consumers for recreational, entertainment or educational purpose at a farm, ranch or other agricultural, horticultural, or agribusiness operation. The purpose of those endeavors is to allow consumers to experience, learn about, and participate in various facets of agricultural industry, culinary pursuits, natural resources, and heritage.

The one-day workshop will include professionals who will share best practices, and breakout sessions on zoning, insurance, business development, marketing and public relations, heritage planning and signage. The Colorado Tourism Office is the state lead agency in charge and can offer tourism marketing and development, such as free listings, travel itineraries, media coverage and using social media.
