Winter Park shoe store offers new products, services

Crossing Berthoud Pass in the winter can be a pain, especially when you’re quarry is as trivial as a pair of new shoes.

Ordering a pair online only to find the fit isn’t quite right doesn’t seem much better.

Luckily, The Local Experience in Winter Park has you covered.



Billed as Grand County’s only shoe store, Local Experience is offering a few new products and services this winter.

One of the business’s new services is its snow boot rental program, which outfits customers with burly pair of winter boots for $15 a day.



“This season it seems to be taking off pretty well,” co-owner Lara Kurtak said.

The Local Experience also now stocks a full line of Gear Aid gear repair products, including Gore-Tex patches and waterproofing.

For summer, the business also stocks a full line of new sandal brands including Birkenstock, Olukai and Chaco.

For skiers and snowboarders, new products include Saucer Wax and a new boot and binding combo deal.

The business still offers custom ski and snowboard boot fitting, ski and bike tuning, Thule products as well as running, hiking and casual footwear.

The Local Experience is located on the backside of the shopping center that includes The Peak Bistro and Brewery in Winter Park.
