Calling all history buffs: Historic archives available for pickup at Sky-Hi News

An edition of Sky-Hi News from Oct. 24, 1947, and an edition of Middle Park Times from Dec. 29, 1927, are pictured recently in the Sky-Hi News office in Granby. The paper archives are at risk of being lost to time after decades of wear and tear from overuse, floods and even a bulldozer attack.

As part of an ongoing project to digitize Grand County’s historic newspapers, bound and single editions of Sky-Hi News and Middle Park Times are available to the community for pickup.

Bound editions of Sky-Hi News from about 1961 to 1965 and single copies from the ’50s and ’60s are available as are bound editions of Middle Park Times from about 1927 to 1942 and single copies from the ’30s and ’40s. All of these editions either have already been digitized as part of the project or are duplicates of existing copies.

If you’d like to take a piece of Grand County history home with you, swing by the office from 1-3 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays or 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays through Dec. 18. After that time, all remaining copies will be recycled.
