Central View: Boris! Natasha! Get Trump and Pence!
The late, great Will Rogers was asked how he wrote the jokes for his newspaper columns. Rogers replied, “I don’t make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.”
Viewed from atop Sheepdog Hill, the on-going investigations in Washington also bring to mind the 1959-1964 TV series: “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle,” a Cold War era cartoon designed, in part, to poke fun at the Soviet Union. After watching Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his staff of former Hillary Clinton campaign donors at work, the thought occurs that Mueller and two of his former investigators may have inadvertently brought Rocket J. Squirrel and Bullwinkle J. Moose back to life.
Rocky and Bullwinkle fans may recall the characters Boris and Natasha, the Soviet agents who worked for Fearless Leader. In almost every episode, Fearless Leader sent a coded message to Boris and Natasha. When decoded, the secret message always said the same thing: “Get Moose and Squirrel!”
Little imagination is needed to substitute recently demoted senior Department of Justice official, Bruce G. Ohr, for Fearless Leader, or to substitute senior FBI agent, Peter Strzok, for Boris, and to substitute FBI lawyer and Strzok’s mistress, Lisa Page, for Natasha. Recently, thousands of anti-Trump e-mails between FBI agents Strzok and Page have come to light. Apparently, in the 2016 presidential election, the message from the Fearless Leaders in the Obama DOJ and the FBI to “Boris” Strzok, and “Natasha” Page was to: “Get Trump and Pence!”
Moreover, evidence is now mounting that John Podesta’s Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign provided a million dollars to fund the efforts of a former British intelligence agent to work with Russian intelligence to discredit Candidate Trump and his presidential campaign associates. If money from Democrat campaign donors was spent to buy fake information from Russian intelligence, the Democrat donors would be well-advised to demand their money back.
If the fake Russian dossier produced by the opposition research company Fusion GPS was used by the FBI to obtain a FISA warrant to “wiretap” Candidate and/or President-elect Trump and his associates, those involved could well end up wearing orange jump suits in Club Fed.
Even more troubling is the existence of a four-page memo which is thought to contain evidence of a wide-ranging conspiracy by Obama Administration DOJ and FBI officials to go after their political “enemies” with tactics resembling those used by the former KGB. Presumably, it is only a matter of time before the appropriate congressional committees will force the current DOJ and FBI to allow taxpayers to see what the Obama DOJ and FBI were doing with regard to Big Brother surveillance of the Trump presidential campaign and the post-election Trump transition team. Recall, current Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself with regard to investigations dealing with Russia. Consequently, it appears the DOJ is being run by lawyers who were in place before Sessions became Attorney General.
House Republican members are clamoring for publication of the memo. House Democrats oppose the document’s release. We report. You decide who is correct about that. But it stands to reason that Will Rogers would find today’s “government watching” more interesting than ever.
