The Winter Park-Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce named Gary DeFrange, president and COO of Winter Park Resort, 2009 Citizen of the Year.

The honor, awarded annually to a citizen exhibiting exemplary dedication to community service, was presented to DeFrange at a dinner ceremony on Nov. 13 at Deno’s Mountain Bistro.

“Given his involvement in and commitment to this community, Gary is most deserving of the Citizen of the Year award, ” said Ron Nelson, board president of the Grand Foundation and the 2008 Citizen of the Year. “Gary is known for infusing our local flavor and maintaining the character of Winter Park Resort, balancing his corporate duties with what’s best for our community.”
