Charmaine ‘Sherry’ Borchers: 1941-2012
Charmaine “Sherry” Borchers, 71, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 at her home in Washburn, Wis. with her family. She never gave up on her fight to be a cancer survivor. Sherry was born Jan 7. 1941 in Ashland, WI the daughter of Sherman & Grace (Gotta) Maloney. She graduated from DePadua High School in 1959, from the Ashland County Teachers College in 1970 and from the Gogebic Community College Nursing Program in 1974. Sherry worked many years as a nurse at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, Wis. In June 1980, she married Douglas Borchers. Before moving back home in 2008, they lived in Colorado for 18 years. Sherry loved cleaning, cooking, baking, quilting, skiing, flowers, music and sunshine. But most of all, she loved her family and her family loved her. She is survived by her husband, Doug, 2 sons, Marty Reykdal and Brian (Amy) Reykdal, 2 daughters, Tammy Reykdal and Heidi (Dean) Cook, a step-daughter, Beth (Dave) Nickels, a step-son, Jeff Borchers, a step-daughter, Joey (Robert) Gibb, a step-son, Ron Borchers, 21 grandchildren, Josiah, Mackenzie, Emma, Evan, Amelia, Ben, Ted, Alicia, Alex, Josiah, Trevor, Gifty, Angie, Toni, Chase, Jacob, Kacie, Olivia, Mabel, Sam and Sophie, 5 great-grandchildren, Malaya, Aiden, Gavin, Triston and Aubrey, a sister, Jean (Bill) Schunk, an aunt Carmen Seabury and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Maloney. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 27 at the Grace Bible Fellowship Church in the town of Barksdale, Bayfield County, Wis. with Pastor Keith Vik officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Cremation will take place with the Ashland Crematory Service. The Bratley Funeral Home in Washburn, Wis. is handling the arrangements.
