Christmas Eve Mass to be held at Winter Park Resort

Winter Park, Colorado ” At 6 p.m. today, a “Ski Down Catholic Mass” will be celebrated at the West Portal Station at the base of Winter Park Resort.

“Every inch of the lodge was packed last year with people attending Mass,” said Kelly Mordini, business manager for Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church. “Many folks that attend are still in ski gear, as they ski down the mountain to make the liturgy.”

“It’s convenient for all the folks vacationing at the resort for the holidays,” said Mordini. “It’s very unique to be able to ski all day and attend Mass right at the mountain.”

The West Portal Station also houses a bar, restaurant and ski shop. Rev. Michael Freihofer, pastor of St. Anne in Grand Lake and its mission churches Our Lady of the Snow in Granby and St. Bernard of Montjoux in Fraser/Winter Park, will celebrate the Mass.

The Christmas Eve Mass follows a porch light parade of Winter Park Resort employees and a visit from Saint Nick. Christmas music will play around the bonfire.
