CodeRed test for cell phones rings April 15
Grand County will conduct a CodeRed Emergency Test at 10 a.m. on April 15. Residents and visitors who have registered in the CodeRed system will receive a call from the Grand County Office of Emergency Management through the CodeRed system with a test emergency message. The phone number 1-866-419-5000 can be called back at any time to hear the same recording. Grand County Emergency Manager Nowell Curran suggests cell phone users save this number in their contacts under “Grand County Emergency,” so that they can easily identify the call. Curran urges all to log onto the Grand County Emergency website, http://www.gcemergency.com, and follow the link to the “CodeRED Community Notification Enrollment” page. Those without Internet access may call Grand County Emergency Services (970-887-2732), Monday through Friday, to supply information over the phone. Required information includes first and last name, street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code, and primary phone number, plus additional numbers. “CodeRED gives those who want to be included in cellular emergency notifications an easy and secure method for inputting information. The data collected will only be used for emergency notification purposes,” Curran said
