Colorado disability group sues Abercrombie, Hollister
DENVER (AP) – A Colorado disability group is joining advocates nationally in suing over access to Abercrombie & Fitch and J.M. Hollister stores. The Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition claims customers in wheelchairs have trouble getting into the stores and that sales counters are too high.A spokesman for Abercrombie, the parent company of Hollister, says it won’t comment on pending legislation. The suit says that one Hollister store designed to look like a beach-house front porch has traditional entrances but they aren’t well marked and are sometimes locked. The suit was filed in Denver federal court last month. Lawyers for the national Equal Rights Center claim similar problems in nine states and filed a lawsuit Nov. 24 in Maryland.
