Colorado Parks and Wildlife has nearly $11 million in grant funding available for private landowners who want to protect wildlife habitats on their property, and to provide wildlife-related recreational access to the public.

The Colorado Wildlife Habitat Program is a statewide program, incentive-based and voluntary that uses conservation easements, access easements and fee title purchases to reach strategic wildlife conservation goals and/or public access goals.

To apply, a landowner or a designee, must complete a project proposal that addresses one or more of the following CPW priorities:

  • Public access for hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing
  • Big-game winter range and migration corridors
  • Protecting habitats for species of concern as identified in CPW statewide action plan
  • Riparian areas and wetlands
  • Landscape-scale parcels and parcels that provide connectivity to conserved lands

All application materials, including the proposal instructions and proposal form, are available on the CPW website at http://www.cpw.state.co.us/aboutus/Pages/LandWaterCWHP.aspx.

Proposals will be accepted until 5 p.m. May 31.

For more information about the CWHP or the application process, contact: Amanda Nims, Land Protection Specialists and Program Manager, CWHP RFP at Colorado Parks and Wildlife in Denver.

The office is located at 6060 Broadway. Phone is 303-291-7269 and email is amanda.nims@state.co.us.

Funding for the 2019 cycle is approximately $11 million and is made possible through a conservation partnership with Great Outdoors Colorado.
