Colorado’s new Census population figure to be released today

DENVER (AP) – The U.S. Census is releasing the first set of population data from the 2010 count that will show which states will gain or lose seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Colorado is not expected to lose or gain a seat after the Census releases on Tuesday the total population figure for the state as of April 2010. Colorado’s population was 4.3 million in 2000 and grew to a little more than 5 million in 2009.

More detailed Census data will be released in the coming months and some of that information will help states with their congressional redistricting.
