Columnist should keep political bias to herself

I’m disappointed Cathy Walton-Smith decided to inject national politics and her personal bias into her weekly column. Her column is typically enjoyable and informative. Her decision to use a reference to this year’s national presidential election as a segue to the Grand Lake mayoral election is unfortunate.

Her statement that the national election is “history-making” because of the “possibility of a woman being elected Vice President” reveals her personal feelings and bias regarding the national election. It is at least as noteworthy that an African-American man may be elected president as the potential for a woman vice-president.

I won’t be as eager to read her column in the future.
