Columnists generally do express their opinions

To the Editor:

In response to Randi Lewis’ letter to the editor of Sept. 29, I would like to explain to Ms. Lewis what a columnist does. A columnist, unlike a reporter or journalist, does express their own opinions.

A “reporter” does just that ” reports the who, what, and why, etc. Columnists and commentators express their opinions about current events and other topics that they feel necessary.

It is my opinion that Randi Lewis is more concerned about people expressing views other than her own than actually being upset about Cathy Walton-Smith’s column.

If she really wanted to have an unbiased newspaper, she might be more disappointed with the one-sidedness of the political cartoons that appear in the “Opinion” page every day (like I am).

But I am sure that Ms. Lewis laughs at the cartoons and will just wave off my opinion as another biased, full-time Grand Grand County resident.
