The Summit County Coroner’s Office has released a new composite sketch of an unidentified man found dead near Officers Gulch on Friday, Oct. 4.

In a social media post on Saturday, Oct. 5, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office stated that a hiker discovered a man’s decomposing body near Officers Gulch the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 4. The Sheriff’s Office also stated its preliminary investigation showed no elevated risk to the public.

Summit County Coroner Amber Flenniken said Friday, Oct. 11 that the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation have been called in to lend a hand to local officials working on the case. Flenniken added that the Coroner’s Office is hard at work to get closure and answers in the case and is looking to the public for help in identifying the man.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release Thursday that the man was approximately 40-50 years old and possibly of South American or Central American descent.

The man was 5 feet and 2 inches tall, weighed roughly 120-130 pounds and had black and gray-colored hair with a receding hairline.

The Sheriff’s Office earlier this week released a diagram of the approximate locations of the man’s two silver or metallic covered upper teeth.
