Coroner’s office investigating skier’s death

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (AP) – The Boulder County coroner’s office is investigating the death of a 40-year-old male skier found dead in the backcountry of Rocky Mountain National Park.

The coroner’s office has identified the skier as Lacy Elliot Meadows of Broomfield. An autopsy is scheduled Tuesday.

Rangers found his body Sunday after a report that he was overdue. His car was found at a trailhead in the morning and his body was found on a snowfield near the southern boundary of the park later in the day.

Meadows was said to be an experienced backcountry skier who planned to hike in and ski near Finch Lake.
