This morning’s snow flurries made way for blue skies and warmer temperatures around noon today. Combined with at least 6 inches of fresh powder, it made for a perfect opening day at Winter Park Resort. “We couldn’t have asked for better conditions,” said Communications Manager Mistalynn Lee. Zephyr started running just after noon, opening fresh terrain and top-to-bottom skiing. And despite I-70 and Berthoud Pass being closed overnight, the resorts parking lots were packed by 11 a.m. this morning, Lee said. The groomers are out all over the mountain and officials have their fingers crossed that, conditions providing, Mary Jane will open this weekend. “We’re thrilled.” Lee said. “The staff is happy, the dogs are happy, kids are running around everywhere … everybody’s happy.”- Reid Armstrong can be reached at 970-887-3334 ext. 19610 or rarmstrong@skyhidailynews.com.
