County officials institute fire restrictions

Grand County now has a fire ban.

Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are set to go into effect at 1 p.m. on Friday July 15. County officials made the determination to institute Stage 1 Fire Restrictions Thursday night and were overseeing administrative details Friday morning in preparation of the ban.

A brief Facebook posting from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office states, “Information will be provided here, on http://www.gcemergency.com and a recording at 970-725-3852 will be provided to help answer what you can and can’t do.”

County officials are currently working to coordinate the County instituted fire restrictions with federal and state agencies so the same restrictions apply broadly across all of Grand County.

The exact wording and list of prohibitions is being developed Friday morning. Officials expect to release a full list of fire restrictions Friday afternoon when the ban goes into effect.
