Cozen’s Cup Golf Tournament at Pole Creek Golf Club was great success

To the Editor:

On a beautiful June 14 Saturday morning, the Fraser River Valley Lions Club staged the Fourth Annual Cozen’s Cup Golf Tournament at Pole Creek Golf Club with Grand Park as the title sponsor.

The golfers registered, purchased mulligans, fairway tees, etc. to improve their scores and received their goody bags. The Lions Club then provided its world famous Pancake Breakfast. The event was proceeded by a ball drop contest from a hot air balloon that was generously provided by Jack and Sue Castillion of Grand Adventure Balloon Tours.

At 9 a.m. 84 golfers teed off and despite a little wind, everyone had a great time and enjoyed a brats lunch provided by the Lions Club members.

The winner of the Cozen’s Cup and the men’s flight was the team of Scott Brown, Jim Kennedy, John Erwin, and Russ Farson. The winner of the women’s flight was the team of Julie Richards, Kathy Hunt, Lindy Kennedy and Annette Steinauer, and the winner of the mixed flight was the team of Bob Garrett, Mary Garrett, Dick Brooks and Martha Brooks.

A number of local businesses were hole sponsors and/or generously donated items for the silent auction including a signed giclee donated by Karen Vance. For a live auction, Grand Park donated a luxury weekend at the Chaparral Ranch in Aspen and a three day stay at Canyon Ranch near Gunnison.

This charitable golf tournament raises funds for the Lions Club Foundation ” all funds are returned to the community in the form of grants and scholarships.

Thanks so much for your support.

John Erwin and
