Crews cleaning up mud slides near Carbondale, on I-70 and Trough Road
DENVER (AP) – Highway crews are cleaning up after heavy rains Thursday afternoon that caused flooding and mud slides in parts of Colorado.
Two mud slides hit Colorado 133 12 miles south of Carbondale and only one lane was open to alternating traffic Friday morning. The other lane is expected to be open by the afternoon.
The Sky-Hi News received unconfirmed reports of heavy hail on Colorado Highway 131 late Thursday and of mud slides that partially blocked the Trough Road between Kremmling and State Bridge. The Colorado Department of Transportation website did not list closures on either road Friday morning.
A mud slide also covered Colorado 82 near Carbondale on Thursday but that highway has re-opened.
Another mud slide a few inches deep in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Dotsero has also been cleared.
