CU regents consider gun ban appeal

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) – University of Colorado regents are expected to decide next week whether to fight to protect a gun ban on campus.

The state appeals court ruled against the ban in April, siding with a gun-rights group in finding that it violated the state’s concealed carry law.

Lawyers for the school plan to meet with regents June 24 to discuss whether they should appeal that decision to the Colorado Supreme Court.

Republicans hold a 5-4 majority on the board but so far only two GOP members have made strong statements in favor of lifting the ban.

Democrats on the board support keeping the ban.
