Denver airport rape suspect due in court
DENVER (AP) – A Portland man suspected of raping a 22-year-old woman at Denver International Airport is due in court.
Twenty-six-year-old Noel Bertrand is scheduled to appear before a judge in Denver on Thursday. He’ll be advised of the sexual assault charge filed against this week.
Authorities say the woman was assaulted just after midnight on April 12 after missing a flight. They say she met a man at an airport restaurant and was attacked at an empty gate.
Authorities say airline employees on the tarmac saw the incident through a window and intervened.
Bertrand is being held on a $50,000 bond. Bertrand could face up to 12 years in prison if convicted and be denied parole under state sentencing laws.
