Denver Water manager Chips Barry killed in Hawaii
The Denver Post
Longtime Denver Water manager Chips Barry was killed in an accident on his farm in Hawaii.
Barry was working with machinery on the farm Sunday when the accident occurred, Denver Water spokesman Stacy Chesney confirmed.
He was 66.
Since 1991, Barry has led Denver Water, which serves more than 1.3 million customers in the metro area.
He announced recently that he planned to retire and spend more time on the farm in Hawaii, where he produced macadamia nuts, coffee and honey. A successor has been named, but Barry was planning to keep working through July and was due back in Denver next week, Chesney said.
