Dinner and fashion show to raise money for MPHS prom
The prom committee is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner and Fashion show to raise money for this year’s Junior and Senior Prom, with this year’s prom theme “Japanese Garden.”
Gosia Rafacz, owner of “Be…” clothing store at Cooper Creek Square in Winter Park, will be donating six brand new dresses for the event, according to committee members. All dresses featured in the show will be new or gently used, to be sold at a “reasonable price.”
A preview of the dresses for sale will be at 5 p.m. at the event, with the dinner and fashion show scheduled for 6 p.m. The event will be the prom committee’s only fundraiser of the year.
Each year, prom costs about $3,500.00, with money spent for the space, for a photobooth, DJ, and decorations, according to Diane Bond, high school librarian and prom committee volunteer.
“We don’t want to raise ticket prices,” Bond said. “Community support would be wonderful.”
Bond is collecting new or gently used dresses from those willing to donate to the cause. The committee is also looking for ladies who would like to model some of the dresses during the dinner show. Those interested should contact English teacher Brenda Abele at the high school.
