DNC: Fence Erected Around Civic Center Park, Protesters Peeved
When the demonstrators who have made Civic Center Park their home this week returned this morning, the scene was drastically different than the night before.
Over night, the city had erected a fence around the park’s perimeter, with the exception of a small access point in the southwest corner.
The protesters, of course, cried foul.
But a spokeswomen for the Joint Information Center said the fence was put up in advance of this weekend’s Taste of Colorado, a four-day event that is held on Labor Day weekend every year and attracts up to 500,000 people.
According to a Fort Collins Now reporter on the scene, a planned demonstration at 11:30 a.m. this morning was delayed, but will still take place soon.
