Dorothy Dee Hamilton

Dorothy Dee Hamilton was born Jan. 7, 1915, in Grand County, Colo., to Wynn O. and Clara A. (Yust) Howe, and died Aug. 6, 2009, in Louisville, Colo.

Her parents ranched at Troublesome, Colo., until their retirement in 1948.

Her maternal grandparents, Edward C. and Mary E. (Mann) Yust homesteaded the MY Ranch near Kremmling. Her Aunt and Uncle Frank and Lutie (Howe) Black ranched on Corral Creek near Parshall.

She graduated from East High School in Denver and Colorado State University. She earned master’s and doctorate degrees in education at the University of Nebraska.

On April 12, 1935, she married Fred B. Hamilton, born June 30, 1913, in Hillrose, Colo. He died Sept. 24, 1954.

She is survived by four of their five children: Jean Rogers (Juan Vidales), Canton, Ga.; Joyce Caufman, Loveland, Colo.; Stephen F. Hamilton (Mary Agnes), Ithaca, N.Y.; and Lyla Dee Hamilton, Louisville, Colo.; her brother, Wilson H. Howe (Jo Ann), Kremmling; her cousins, Jeanne Off (Donald), Henderson, Colo.; James E. Yust, Kremmling; Nancy Yust, Casper, Wyo.; Georgine Bond, Vernal, Utah; Wilma J. Traber, Dana Point, Calif.; and John E. Traber, Lacey, Wash.
