Duck race to benefit Fraser Valley trails is Aug. 21

Sunday, Aug. 21, is your lucky day if you’re looking for a chance to participate in the development and preservation of multi-use trails in the Fraser Valley and maybe win some great prizes or cash.

The Fraser Valley Partnership for Trails Duckie Race is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the bridge below the Fraser Rodeo Grounds on County Road 73. Bring waders and fishing nets to help drive the plastic ducks down river toward the finish line.

Grand Prize is $250 cash. About 25 other prizes donated by businesses in the Fraser Valley will also be awarded. With a maximum of 1,000 ducks to be sold, odds of winning something are good.

Proceeds help support the FVPT, a primary purchaser of materials used to repair and preserve trails in the Fraser Valley. FVPT is the volunteer organization that works together with and supplies grant money to organizations and events like Headwaters Trails Alliance, Adopt-A-Trail, National Public Lands Day, and federal land-management agencies.

Donations may be sent to FVPT at P.O. Box 68, Fraser CO 80442. Adopt one duck for $5, a cluck of 3 ducks for $12 or a flock of 12 ducks for $36.

For further information or if you or your organization would like to contribute a prize or purchase ducks, contact John Sevier at 970-726-4608, or Diana Lynn Rau at 970-887-0547 or
