The boys and girls East Grand Middle School Nordic Ski Teams skated their ways to good finishes at the Aspen invitational ski meet Saturday while competing against schools from across the Rocky Mountain region.

In team results, the girls' team took fourth place out of six teams and the boys took fifth.

For the girl Cubs, Sylvia Brower was the top skier for East Grand with a strong 2nd place overall finish in a competitive field of 30 skiers. She skied the 3-K course in 12 minutes and 53 seconds. Annie Kuhns was the next East Grand Skiers in 12th place, followed by Lucy Wetterstein (19th), Sierra Jamison (22nd), Allison Life (25th) and Rosemary Trotter (27th).

For the boys, East Grand's top skier was Kyle Vogelbacher in 17th place with a time of 13:16, followed by Nick Forquer (18th), Gray Barker (20th), Chance Hein (25th), Oliver Schneller (29th), Dane Jensen (31st), Caden Hansen (35th) and Trustin Appelhans (44th).

The Aspen race was the last official race for the Middle School skiers although several members of the team have volunteered to do one more optional race in two weeks in Minturn.
