EGSD appoints board member from Hot Sulphur Springs
East Grand School District’s newest school board member is a lifelong Grand County resident.
Trevor Corbin was appointed to the board at the Dec. 3 meeting as the only candidate from his district. He replaces Taunia Shipman for District 1 representing the area west of Granby.
“We are happy to have a full board and to have Trevor join,” Superintendent Frank Reeves said.
Corbin lives in Hot Sulphur Springs with his wife, Hannah Corbin, and his 4-month-old daughter, Savannah.
Now a project manager for Rendezvous Homes in Fraser, Corbin spent kindergarten through his senior year at East Grand schools. He also serves as a volunteer firefighter for the Hot Sulphur Springs/Parshall Fire Protection District.
While Corbin said he “wasn’t a perfect student by any means,” he decided to join the board to give back to the school district that educated him while sharing his local perspective.
“Growing up in a small town and going to a school in a small town helps you be able to see what these kids go through day in and day out,” Corbin said.
One of his goals is to ramp up the career and tech education program, where he hopes to see more student involvement.
