El Paso County sheriff’s deputy dragged by SUV
SECURITY, Colo. (AP) – El Paso County sheriff’s officials say a deputy suffered serious injuries after being dragged about 40 yards by an SUV during a late-night traffic stop.
Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Teresa Murphy says the SUV was stopped around 10:40 p.m. Saturday. She says the SUV sped off after the deputy leaned in to the vehicle. The deputy fell in the middle of the road, and neighbors called 911.
Murphy didn’t release the deputy’s name but says the officer has has been with the department since 1999.
Deputies were unable to find the SUV.
