Empty bus hit by train in Colorado Springs; no one hurt
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – Police say an empty bus was hit by a train in Colorado Springs after the bus got stuck on railroad tracks, but no injuries were reported.
Police say the bus was crossing the tracks shortly after midnight on Tuesday when it became high-centered and couldn’t move. Only three people had been on the bus and all were safely outside when the train hit.
Authorities say the tracks are atop a steep rise, and other vehicles have been caught there.
A tow truck had been called for the bus but didn’t arrive it time. It’s not clear whether railroad officials had been told. The bus caught fire and was considered a total loss.
The bus was from California and was on a cross-country tour. No other details have been released.
