Everybody (and dogs) loves the Habitat Hobble

Winter Park, CO Colorado

WINTER PARK – On Saturday, June 16, the Grand County Habitat for Humanity will host its 11th annual Habitat Hobble.

The Hobble, Habitat’s only fundraiser, will raise money to build its 10th house in Grand County, which will meet the housing needs of Habitat’s newest family, the Antonios. Currently living in Grand Lake, the Antonios took part in a ground-breaking on their new home in Hot Sulphur Springs on June 3, and volunteers are ready to get their hands on hammers and paint brushes.

Similar to past Hobble events, the Hobble will offer two courses, a 5K and 10K, both runs kicking off at 9 a.m. The 5K course will begin at Cooper Creek Square in Winter Park, run north on Lion’s Gate Street, loop around in Grand Park and return back to Cooper Creek Square. The 10K option will also begin at Cooper Creek Square, run north on the bike path west of U.S. Highway 40, cross over at Alco Plaza and return along the gravel Fraser River Trail to Cooper Creek Square. All participants receive a colorful T-shirt and goody bag at the race finish line.

The Hobble is a dog-friendly, family-friendly event and includes a finish line party with food, live music by the Denver-area steel drum band, Steel Alive, and a silent auction including a wealth of dining, lodging, recreational opportunities and merchandise.

Participants are encouraged to register in teams of five. Teams who raise funds exceeding their registration fee will compete for the 2012 Team Spirit Trophy. Individual registration is $25 by June 8 and $30 after and team registration is $100 by June 8 and $120 after. Register online at http://www.habitatgrandcounty.org or at 8 a.m. on race day at Cooper Creek Square.

Registration forms are also available at the Winter Park/Fraser Valley Visitors Center, area libraries and businesses or by calling 970-887-9138 or by e-mailing info@habitatgrandcounty,org to request a registration form.
