Family of Lake Dillon boating accident victim settles lawsuit

DENVER (AP) – The relatives of a man killed in a boating accident on Dillon Reservoir settled their lawsuit with the boat driver and the town of Frisco.

Relatives of Adam Brown sued the town of Frisco and Kevin Lukanski, who pleaded guilty to boating under the influence and criminally negligent homicide. Brown’s family also sued the Tiki Bar at the Frisco Marina, saying it was the bar that served Lukanski alcohol before the accident.

Brown’s family reached a settlement with the bar last month and federal court documents filed Tuesday show the family has also settled the case with Lukanski and the town of Frisco.

Settlement details were not disclosed.

Lukanski was driving a boat in 2008 when Brown fell in the reservoir and drowned. Lukanski was sentenced to two years in prison.
