HOT SULPHUR SPRNGS – The owner of C and M Guns in Hot Sulphur Springs, was questioned by an FBI agent, an agent with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and a Grand County Sheriff’s deputy regarding the suspect in the Aurora movie theater shooting that took place on July 20.

James Holmes is suspected to have been in the Grand County area in June to use the Byers Canyon Gun Range located near Parshall.

The agents asked the gun shop owner earlier this week if he remembered seeing Holmes or if he had sold ammunition to the man. It is not clear what leads authorities to believe the suspect was in this area.

The shop owner denied having seen the man or selling him ammunition.

The agents mentioned that he would have had orange colored hair at the time of the possible encounter.

“I would have remembered selling ammunition to a guy with orange hair,” said Clark Branstetter, owner of C and M Guns.

A rumor has surfaced as well that Holmes was pulled over for a traffic stop during his time in the county.

Grand County Sheriff Rod Johnson said he had no record of any such incident involving his department.
