Max Gurrola is the proud owner of Grand Mountain Munchies, Granby’s newest sandwich shop. The restaurant offers a mix of Italian, Mexican, American and other unique twists on the traditional sub.

The sandwich shop opened on Granby’s Main Street on Dec. 17, 2024. Gurrola is likely a familiar face to customers as he has previously worked at Grand Azteca Mexican Restaurant in Granby, which the Gurrola family owns.

The inside of the sandwich shop is small and cozy, but the portions are large. Sandwiches come in 6- or 12-inch lengths, and are loaded up with meats and toppings. There are plenty of leftovers for customers to take home, making it a good lunchtime option.

Grand Mountain Munchies also makes tortas, a Mexican sandwich made with a soft telera roll. Tortas are a popular street food in Mexico, and can be served hot or cold. Granby customers can order asada (grilled beef) or the “del chavo” (bologna, ham or chicharrón). Tortas range from $14 to $15, and sandwiches range from $10 to $19.50.

Customers can purchase house-made pickles, pasta salad and soups. A children’s menu is also available.

Through Valentine’s Day, tiramisu is offered for dessert. Customers can order a special tiramisu made with ladyfingers dipped in Mexican hot chocolate and topped with a strawberry and Moscato wine creme.

Signature sandwiches at Grand Mountain Munchies include the hot Italian beef with au jus and the Philly cheesesteak. The shop also has vegetarian options.
