Findley named volunteer of the year
Laurie Findley didn’t waste time jumping into the volunteer needs of the Granby community when she and her family moved to the area full-time three years ago.
She serves on the downtown Granby Design Committee, is the president of the Granby Chamber Ambassador Group, she volunteers at the summer Farmer’s Market, October Fest and Granby Fest, and when there is a parade in town, one can bet Findley is in the trenches helping to organize.
And now she has been named Volunteer of the Year by the Granby Area Chamber of Commerce.
With a bubbly personality and a vivacious laugh, Findley – wife, mother of two teenage daughters, and employed as an advertising sales representative for the Sky-Hi Daily News – says helping out in the community gives her added fulfillment. “It makes my heart feel good that I can give back to the community and help keep it alive and thriving,” she said.
And what makes a good volunteer? Being “flexible and willing to pitch in and do anything that’s needed,” Findley said, inviting other community members to join her. “There’s a lot of opportunity to be a part of anything.”
