Fire outbreak in Cottonwood Pass area

Local firefighting assets were in the thick of things Wednesday evening, July 13, with a fire outbreak in the Cottonwood Pass area right off Grand County Road 55.

County officials did not have an exact size for the fire early Wednesday evening, with the situation still in flux, but estimated the blaze at somewhere between four and seven acres. A helicopter has been called out for the suppression efforts. County officials ask local residents and visitors to stay clear of County Road 55 as firefighting crews battle the conflagration.
