Fire sparked near Williams Fork Reservoir

A small fire has broken out in Grand County just off County Road 3701 southwest of Williams Fork Reservoir.

The fire began sometime around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon June 1. Details from authorities were sparse with the situation in flux but officials from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the fire was approximately one-acre in size and spreading early Wednesday afternoon.

The fire has already completely burned one shed in the vicinity and was moving into aspen trees in the area the last time authorities were available for comment. Officials said there was approximately 150 yards between the fire and denser sections of forest in the nearby area.

The fire started in the Hot Sulphur Springs/Parshall Fire Protection District. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
